Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC)

Designed for ease of use and maximum control of power to the ground, S-HAC lets you match the engine’s power delivery to the starting conditions. Through refined ignition advance timing for 2016, the S-HAC further improves launch capability as compared to the previous model.

A-MODE B-MODE
In A-Mode, S-HAC alters the ignition timing to prevent wheel slip and to deliver smooth and controlled starting traction off the gate. After 1.2 seconds or when you reach third gear, the system shuts off and returns to normal ignition timing. The indicator light will flash slowly when in A-Mode.

In B-Mode, S-HAC advances ignition timing to allow increased throttle response and stronger acceleration off the line. One of three conditions will return the ignition to normal operation (whichever happens first):
    1. After 4.5 seconds has passed since throttle opening
    2. When you shift to 4th gear
    3. When the throttle is closed

The indicator light will flash quickly when in B-Mode.

Benefit of A-Mode: For novice riders, and/or hard and slippery traction conditions, use A-Mode for a more controlled launch.

Benefit of B-Mode: For skilled riders, and/or good starting conditions, use Mode B for a more aggressive launch.

Showa SFF-AIR Fork

The SFF-AIR fork delivers improved suspension performance with easier adjustability.

At 2.5 pounds lighter than a conventional SFF fork using a steel coil spring, the SFF-AIR fork uses air – which is lightweight and micro-adjustable – to deliver a higher level of performance. The three-chamber fork uses an Inner Air Chamber that handles the main suspension reaction force, a smaller Balance Air Chamber opposing the main reaction force, and an Outer Air Chamber that supports the main reaction force. As for the damper side, damping is 13-way adjustable, Compression is 8-way adjustable. Damper size is increased, which results in quicker response. Benefit: The SFF-AIR is significantly lighter, and it delivers improved performance with easier adjustability. Riders can quickly adjust the air pressure trackside with a simple hand pump using each chamber’s separate and easily accessible air valve – no need for complicated spring changes.
Powerful 450cc Engine

The RM-Z’s big 450cc engine is designed to make starting easier, cold or hot.

The fuel-injected 450cc four-stroke powering the 2016 Suzuki RM-Z450 packs the right combination of torque and horsepower. The 2016 RM-Z450 delivers easier starting, more consistent launch off the line, and a smoother spread of torque and horsepower to make the bike more exciting to ride – and easier to ride to victory.
Lightweight Frame
The RM-Z450’s lightweight frame is designed to optimize and balance rigidity, while also accounting for a 4-percent weight reduction over the previous generation frame.  
Championship Components
EFI Coupler System Renthal Fat Bar
The RM-Z450’s fuel-injection system delivers precise throttle response and consistent performance. By plugging in either of two fuel-setting couplers (in addition to stock), riders can opt for a richer or leaner fuel setting to make the most of any riding conditions.

This brace-less tapered aluminum handlebar provides the right amount of strength and flexibility, and it’s proven on racetracks everywhere.

Excel Aluminum Rims Nissin Front Brake

Excel aluminum rims are made specifically to withstand rugged racing environments, including Supercross, outdoor Motocross and off-road conditions. The aluminum-alloy rims are designed and shaped to stay strong and to maintain their good looks.

The redesigned Nissin Front Brake caliper is 10% lighter

Wave Disc Rotors  

The wave-shaped brake disc rotors standard on the 2016 Suzuki RM-Z450 are designed to be as light as possible, while staying cool and clean.

Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC)

Designed for ease of use and maximum control of power to the ground, S-HAC lets you match the engine’s power delivery to the starting conditions. A new, three-stage version of S-HAC fitted to the 2016 RM-Z250 adjusts the ignition map for the initial moment of launch, then re-adjusts timing for the time the motorcycle moves through the starting gate area, then another adjustment is applied during the longer primary acceleration period.

A-MODE B-MODE

    1. Six seconds has passed since the throttle was initially opened

All-new KYB Suspension

The new PSF2 air fork eliminates the coil spring, the heaviest part of a spring fork, resulting in a 1kg weight savings

Adjusting the suspension is now as simple as adding or subtracting air. Just apply one common air pressure setting to each fork leg. No need for complicated and costly spring changes. Additionally, rebound damping is now 2-way adjustable with high- and low-speed setting screws.

Benefit: The PSF2 is significantly lighter, and delivers improved suspension performance with easier adjustability. Riders can adjust the air pressure trackside with no need for complicated spring changes.

All-New Rear Shock

Fully-tunable rear shock features an easily accessed integral adjuster system to set high- and low-speed rebound damping and high- and low-speed compression damping force

Reshaped cushion rod spacers improve feeling and reduce harshness

Redesigned Frame Geometry with Lower Weight

 

 

Designed to improve the RMZ-Z250’s already outstanding handling characteristics, the 2016 frame has been modified resulting in greater cornering and straight line performance

Overall frame weight lowered by 2.5%

New rib structure, redesigned connection parts, and lengthened steering head increase frame rigidity

 
Extensive Engine Upgrades

To increase performance, reduce weight and improve ease of maintenance, over 80 internal engine parts have been redesigned for 2016

New piston, including pin and ring, increase durability and improve power delivery through improved sealing

Reduced Crank inertia and increased Magneto inertia reduce engine braking force

Redesigned camshafts and valves increase overall power and contribute to smoother power delivery

Redesigned decompression system for more precise operation and easier starting

Redesigned kick drive gear, breather gear, kick idle gear also contribute greatly to the easier engine

Redesigned Cam Chain tensioner reduces friction and increases durability, while a new adjuster has a greater range of tension to reduce drag

Redesigned Crankcase improves oil lubrication and circulation, and reduces engine braking force

Redesigned header pipe and muffler enhance low- to mid-range power with lower sound output (AMA-compliant)
