Team Makita Suzuki’s Dungey Picks UpPodium Finish in MX Lites at Washougal
July 29, 2007
Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ryan Dungey brought home his fourth Motocross Lites podium position of the season in the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Series race at Washougal MX Park in Washougal, WA, this weekend. The 17-year-old Minnesotan got the holeshot on his Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 in both 30-minute motos and was battling for the lead the whole way. In the end, Dungey finished an impressive third overall, thanks to a third-place result in the first moto and a second-place finish in the second moto.
“I just tried to put in some good laps on my Makita Suzuki RM-Z250. Anytime I’m behind the guys in the lead, I’m learning something. I don’t quite have the pace going but I’m learning something new each weekend. My riding is getting better and better, it’s just taking some time. I just need to get more experience racing with the guys at the front.” In the Motocross class, Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ivan Tedesco finished up in seventh-place overall after carding a 10th-place finish in the first moto and a strong fifth-place finish in the second moto. Makita Suzuki teammate Ricky Carmichael did not race at Washougal because he is running an abbreviated race schedule this season.
“It was a pretty good weekend. I struggled a little bit in the first moto but we made a few changes to the bike that helped a lot in the second moto, Overall, I’m pretty happy with the weekend, though I still need to work on my speed at the beginning of the race.”
Team Makita Suzuki Racing will race next at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, MN, the weekend of Aug. 11 - 12, 2007.
