AUTOTRADER/SUZUKI/JGRMX IRONMAN RACE REPORT

August 28, 2017

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (August 28, 2017) – The 2017 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series concluded on Saturday at the relatively new Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Ind. Finally back to full strength, the Autotrader/Suzuki/JGRMX contingent fought hard to make a lasting impact on what has been an injury-riddled year.

Weston Peick has cemented himself as a top-five threat in outdoor motocross, even with a nagging wrist injury that plagued him all summer. The Menifee, Calif. native was on pace at Ironman, hovering around fifth in both motos. When the dust settled Peick’s 7-8 moto scores left him 7th overall on the day. Weston ended the series 8th in the point standings.

Justin Barcia made his return after a three round layoff. “Bam Bam” qualified well, but was eventually relegated to 10-13 moto scores for 11th overall. Due to missing four rounds, Justin finished 13th in the final standings.

After starting to gain momentum, Phil Nicoletti’s advance was stymied in the second moto when he cased the mighty “Godzilla” uphill triple. Nicoletti feared that he had re-injured his leg. Fortunately, Phil is no worse for wear. His 14-38 scores netted him 19th overall on Saturday.

The team’s lone soldier in the 250 class, Kyle Cunningham, worked his way forward in the first moto to 9th. Kyle gated better in the second moto, but mistakes held him back to 14th in the second moto. Cunningham finished 13th overall at the series finale, and 15th in the final point standings.
